WASHINGTON — NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson launched the next assertion mourning the passing of Dexter Scott King:
“The NAACP mourns alongside the King household and the bigger civil rights neighborhood as we grapple with the lack of the endearing Dexter Scott King. Dexter devoted his life to shepherding his father’s profound legacy, and thru doing so, he has left all of us with an amazing torch to hold in his personal legacy.
For practically twenty years Dexter served as Chairman of The King Heart and maintained the basic philosophy of nonviolence in an effort to promote social change by means of his neighborhood engagement and schooling efforts. Main with litigation and scholarship, Dexter’s contributions to the world remind us to decide to non-violence in an effort to achieve cultural and societal transformation.
We thank him for his devoted service and lifelong resiliency in upholding his father’s legacy by advocating for the uplift of the Black neighborhood. He will probably be remembered by all who bore witness to his management. Our sincerest condolences are with the King household and all in mourning throughout this time.”
