
Tony Williams, who lived a full lifetime of 92 years and was one of many legendary alto saxophonists who actually represented “The Sound Of Philadelphia” departed this life on Saturday, November 11, 2023.
Williams was a jazz musician for over 50 years. Born July 2, 1931, Williams spent his early years raised in Chattanooga, Tennessee, his household later moved up north, the place he grew up outdoors of Philadelphia in Crestmont, Pennsylvania.
Williams grew up taking part in the horn as a teenager and shortly found his love for music. He performed in class bands in highschool (Abington Excessive College) and later went to varsity at Tennessee A & I (presently generally known as Tennessee State College), performed with their band and was an impressive sprinter on their observe crew. He later transferred to Central State College in Ohio and attached with music and athletic alternatives there.
